- He has competed in the Race Across America (RAAM) twice as a team of four (finishing in second place both times)
- He gets genuinely frustrated when people use age as the basis for slowing down
- He has a love:hate relationship with technology (and yes, the irony of his saying that on his website isn't lost on him)
- He went plant-based in 2013 (i.e. since before it was 'a thing')
